About the role
Based from either the Sevenoaks or London office, you’ll work closely with the Finance team and report to an Associate Director. This is a predominantly Credit Controller position, with around 70% of your time dedicated to managing the credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt and improving cash flow across multiple business entities. The remaining time will involve supporting the wider finance team with a variety of accounting duties.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of the credit control process across multiple entities
  • Proactively chasing outstanding invoices by telephone and email
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to ensure prompt payment
  • Resolving invoice queries efficiently to minimise payment delays
  • Reducing debtor days and improving cash flow
  • Producing aged debt reports and providing regular updates to management
  • Managing the sales ledger
  • Supporting the purchase ledger when required
  • Processing mileage and employee expenses
  • Assisting with month-end journals and financial reporting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Petty cash and company credit card management
  • Supporting VAT returns
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records

What we are looking for
To be considered for this role, you must be AAT Level 3 qualified as a minimum (or ACCA part-qualified). Applications that do not meet this minimum qualification requirement will not be considered.
The successful candidate will also have:

  • Proven experience in a Credit Controller role with a track record of reducing debtor days
  • Strong experience managing a high-volume sales ledger
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the confidence to build positive client relationships
  • The ability to resolve payment queries efficiently and professionally
  • Good bookkeeping and double-entry knowledge
  • Experience supporting month-end processes, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience using QuickBooks
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to support the wider finance team
  • Ability to work from the office four days per week (Sevenoaks or London)
