An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a well-established accountancy practice in Maidstone.
Working as part of a small, experienced payroll team, this is a hands-on position managing payrolls for a varied portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will need to be confident in their payroll knowledge and comfortable hitting the ground running.
The position is approximately 25 hours across four days per week, with flexibility around how those hours are structured.
About the role
The Payroll Administrator will work alongside another experienced payroll professional, providing a comprehensive payroll service to a varied client base.
The firm processes payroll for a broad range of clients ranging from director-only payrolls through to businesses with around 100 employees.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Obtaining payroll information from clients and ensuring all necessary information is received on time
- Managing payrolls accurately from start to finish
- Calculating PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments
- Processing starters, leavers and employee changes
- Producing payslips and payroll reports
- Preparing and submitting RTI information to HMRC
- Processing pension contributions and supporting auto-enrolment requirements
- Dealing with maternity, paternity, sickness and other statutory payments
- Handling payroll queries from clients professionally and efficiently
- Ensuring clients receive completed payroll information within agreed deadlines
- Maintaining accurate payroll records
- Supporting year-end payroll processes, including P60s
What we are looking for
This position requires someone with previous payroll experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Assistant or similar
- Accountancy practice payroll experience
- Good knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments
- Experience with workplace pensions and auto-enrolment
- Strong knowledge of payroll deadlines and HMRC requirements
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Confidence dealing directly with clients
- Has experience with CIS/P11D
The successful Payroll Administrator will need to be confident in their existing knowledge and able to become productive quickly within the team.
