About the Opportunity
An established law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to take a key role within its finance function and become an integral part of the management team.
This is much more than a transactional cashiering position.
The successful individual will take responsibility for the firm’s day-to-day financial operations while helping to strengthen financial controls, improve efficiency and support the firm’s continued development.

Key Responsibilities
The successful Legal Cashier will:
- Take responsibility for the firm’s day-to-day financial matters.
- Maintain accurate office and client account records.
- Ensure compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Scrutinise large financial transactions.
- Manage payment processes, including reviewing and setting up bank payments.
- Record office and client transactions accurately and promptly.
- Oversee invoices and ensure payments are made on time.
- Develop effective financial controls and procedures.
- Liaise with the Management Accountant, external accountants and fee earners.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management information.
- Manage month-end close procedures.
- Prepare work-in-progress valuations.
- Prepare, review and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Prepare for and manage the annual SRA audit.
- Lead, support and guide the Accounts Department.
Essential Skills
The successful candidate will need:
- Strong legal cashiering and legal accounts knowledge.
- Detailed understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and SRA compliance requirements.
- Experience managing office and client account transactions.
- Strong financial control and reconciliation skills.
- Experience producing financial and management information.
- The ability to work effectively with senior management, accountants and fee earners.
- The confidence to take ownership of a busy legal finance function.
- Effective leadership and people-management skills.
